Sounds like there's almost no chance of an ISS contact. I'm thinking it
won't be worth the effort this year. Anyone else care to comment?
Satellite AO-51 will be available for JOTA, but timing of its passes is
not so good.

9:54 to 10:09 pm (local) Friday night, 88 degrees max. elevation (as
good as it gets, but pretty late)
11:41 to 11:54 am Saturday, only 30 max elevation
9:15 to 9:30 pm Saturday, 39 max elevation

Sat. morn might be OK for a reception demonstration, not so good for a QSO.

If the Scouts are interested, and some others can go (Dave or Phil?), I
could be there late Fri night, FYI.

Hello Tom. Congrats on being invited by the local Boy Scouts to assist
at their JOTA events; terrific!

The new ISS crew has been adjusting to their new home and new duties,
and haven't been on the air. You are correct that the radio for packet
isn't working as it should, either. So you have rightly assumed that
there isn't a lot of likelihood that NA1SS will be active during JOTA;
I'm sorry. We were lucky in past years.

I am writing to you as a representative of the Cass County Amateur Radio
Club, Logansport, IN. We have been invited by the local Boy Scouts to
assist them at Camp Buffalo (IN) in the Jamboree on the Air next
Saturday, Oct 21 (they will be K2BSA/9). They would like to attempt a
QSO with the ISS. From what I have read lately, I believe the packet
station is down, and the astronauts have been too busy to make phone
contacts. Do you know if they plan to be available for the Jamboree on
the Air? If you can give us an answer, we can tell the Scouts if the
opportunity exists, and schedule accordingly. Thank you.
