Morning all,
As you are all aware I try to keep everyone updated as to things happening with big events and stuff that happens in between meetings. I have a couple new things for Field Day but also for the good of the club!
I have received our first response to my invitation blitz I do for Field Day. Congressman Joe Donnelly has responded, unfortunately he has a scheduling conflict and won't be able to attend. It's a shame too since I had the wonderful opportunity to meet him a couple weeks ago and it would have been good to see him again.
Another request I made was to Mayor Fincher for a proclamation for amateur radio week during the week of Field Day. I received the "green light" on this. He's asked me to tell him what I want on it and he'll be sure to get it done. Using examples from the past as well as the league I'm in the process of writing a proclamation that will be done at some time closer to Field Day. I will keep you informed as to any possible presentation ceremonies.
Thirdly, I have made requests to local radio stations for the purposes of advertising our testing after meetings. (Tom KB9WSL please see me about this) In doing so I made my normal request to Andy Eubank for a Field Day week appearance on TOT. Eric Pfieffer gave me a call for this and also wanted to hear more about the testing as well as the club in general so at this point we're working on TWO appearances on Talk of the town, WOW!! I'll be on this Friday at 8:05 to talk about testing and highlight the club, and we'll schedule another appearance for closer to FD to focus on that.
I'm excited and we're getting the support from local radio putting our name out there!!!
If you'[re wondering why all the "touchtones" on the repeater lately. We (Phil mainly but I'm trying to help and learn as I can) are trying out new messages and new macros for the repater to make it easier to do things. Not to mention it's using more of the capabilities of the controller we have. We still need ideas for what we'd like the repeater to say. Please realize Romeo (the controller voice) has an extremely limited vocabulary so it may not be exactly the way we plan. If you hear something you like let him know as it's being done. Concurrently if you hear something that is very wrong or just doesn't work voice your opinion as well. We usually can hear how things sound for the most part but sometimes we all need a second set of eyes (or ears in this case) on things to fully see it.
From all the cool things happening we're getting almost more than enough for Feedline!! As a side note on that Ed, I've missed seeing the Feedline and the great work you've done with it. I've only seen a couple "current" publications since I've been a member but those few are definitely enough to be memorable and enough to miss when it isn't there. If you'd like some help I'd be more than happy to do what I can to help resurect it.
Live from my shack that's all I got! I hope everyone is doing well. I enjoy hearing more activity on the repeater and the talking up of Field Day as well as the new testing date. Advertising both only helps us more. Have a wonderful day all!!
