MINUTES OF THE 4-21-2007 METING OF THE
C.C.A.R.C.
The meeting was called to order at 9:11 am by Chuck, N9PMW.
SECRETARY'S REPORT:
The Secretary's report was presented by Tom, KB9WSL. Minutes of the March
meeting were approved as presented without corrections or additions.
TREASURER'S REPORT:
None, as Dave, N9WCQ was not present.
REPEATER:
Phil, W9LVY reported that the telephone line for the phone patch on the
147.180 repeater has been disconnected. He also reported that new
announcements have been programmed on the 147.180 machine. He stated the
controller also allows for tape recorded messages to be played if desired.
Some of the announcements include meeting dates, severe weather
announcements and severe weather net information. Phil also reported that
the 180 repeater is running about 30 watts output at this time instead of
the usual 100 watts. He says work needs to be done to the amplifier. He
would also like to test the tri-band antenna sometime.
Dave, K9DVL, says he would like to get patch cables made for the equipment
at the EMA building in the attic. Chuck, N9PMW says he is working on getting
all of the equipment manuals together and make copies have place them in
three-ring binders and have them at several locations...including the water
tower repeater site, at EMA, and other needed locations.
Phil, W9LVY is going to the Dayton Hamvention in May and asked for a list of
items the Club needs. It was decided to have Dave purchase good quality
PL-259's and SO-239 pass thru's for the repeater and other Club equipment. A
motion was made and seconded to advance 50-dollars so Phil can pick up the
needed items in the needed quantitites. Motion carried.
Bob,KA9AWH, reported that Alvin Beckman, EMA Director will have LMU set the
utility poles at the EMA site so the Club can install an HF Antenna for the
Club station at the EMA building.
FIELD DAY:
Chuck, N9PMW, reported that invitations to groups and Government officials
have already be mailed. 2nd District Congressman Joe Donnelly has responded,
thanking the Club for the invitation but stating he will be unable to attend
this year.
Chuck reported that no decision has been made yet on whether or not to run
an amplifier for Field Day this year. Two stations are planned with
additional stations for GOTA and VHF-UHF. There was also discussion about
setting-up an operator schedule for Field Day so the stations are manned
throughout the event.
Tom, KB9WSL, purchased 5 sets of male-female 9 pin connectors which will be
used for the antenna rotator controllers.
After much discussion it was decided to allocate 75 dollars for T-shirts for
Field Day. Chuck will have logos ironed onto the shirts.
A motion was made and seconded to spend up to 75 dollars on the shirts.
Motion carried.
There was a motion made to allocate 200-dollars for Field Day expenses for
2007. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
GOOD OF THE CLUB:
Chuck, N9PMW, reported that he was a guest on WSAL's Talk of the Town
program. He discussed Amatuer Radio and the Cass County Amateur Radio Club.
He also touched on Field Day. He will appear on the program again in the
future to discuss Field Day 2007 in much more detail.
Chuck showed the Club members in attendance several Cass County Amateur
Radio Club logos which are being considered as a background water-mark for
ID badges for Club Members. The ID badges will be made by the EMA. Each
department or organization in County Government and Public Safety has unique
ID badges. A motion was made and seconded to go with the Radio Club logo
printed in Red for the ID badges. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made and seconded for the Club to donate 50-dollars for
Logansport Fire-Fighter Kevin Lococo. Lococo has a serious illness. Motion
carried.
Chuck, N9PMW reported that the VEC paper work has been accepted. Don, K9QET,
wanted to step down as VEC. Chuck is now the VEC for the club. Don will
still assist with testing if needed. Chuck also sent an email to the Red
Cross Director regarding that agency's request for assistance in getting
amateur radio equipment and to assist in getting Red Cross volunteers
licensed as Hams. Chuck has heard nothing back from the agency yet.
Dave, K9DVL made a motion to locate the 145.350 repeater at Chuck's house.
Besides the repeater, a donated tower would be located at Chuck's QTH as
well. The motion was seconded, and motion carried.
Randy Lanning has moved to McKinney House in Logansport. He is on the air on
2 meters thru the repeater and will soon be back on the air on HF once a
long-wire antenna is put up. His call is W9CFI.
Chuck, N9PMW, thanked Ed, K9PSR for his past work on the "FeedLine
Newsletter". Chuck stated he missed the Newsletter and hoped it could be
revived. Ed stated his busy schedule and lack of feed-back from members
caused the "FeedLine" to be pushed down on his priorties list. Ed stated if
there was renewed interest he would see what he could do. Ed would like
members to come up with ideas and/or articles for the Newsletter.
BILLS:
None
50/50:
9 dollars raised. Winner was K9DVL. He donated the winnings back to the
Club.
The next meeting will be on Saturday, May 19th at 9am at the Cass County EMA
building.
