Hello Everyone,
In a phone call with Alvin this afternoon, he stated that there have been some significant changes in the approaching winter storm for this weekend. The storm as a whole has slowed and the warm line has moved a little bit north. What this means for us is that the forcast has changed so the more significant snow is due to be in this area and we WILL be under a winter storm warning. As of 2:00 PM this afternoon I'm told that the snowfall is due to be somewhere in the range of 6-12 inches <storm total>. Alvin feels it'll be around the 8+ region. This snowfall is due to start around midday Saturday and continue throughout the day into the overnight and finishing sometime Sunday morning. The winds are supposed to help push the snow around for the majority of the storm. Saturday afternoon the winds are expected to be around 20mph with gusts to 30. Sunday they are due to increase with gusts to 40mph. As expected the snow will affect traveling but the winds could make things totaly impassable. I would suggest that everyone get the things they need completed done as early as possible after the meeting so you can batton down your respective hatches and enjoy the storm from within your homes rather than out and about somewhere. I also expect that this storm will most likely affect travel up to and including Monday morning. I may possibly be at EMA for the duration of this storm to help with dispatching vehicles for transportation of essential personnel and available by cell phone. If anyone is available to assist in this venture please let me know by phone, cell, radio or in person. Thanks to everyone for doing all you do for the club, the county and amateur radio as a whole.
PLEASE PASS THIS INFORMATION ON TO ANYONE NOT ON THE REMAILER LIST WITHIN THE CLUB
