ndiana Section News for November 2007

My apologies for getting this edition of the Indiana Section News out
so late. Several reports were very late getting to me, and the holiday
season also caused a delay. My thanks to all those who got their
reports to me by the 10th of the month. - - THANK YOU!

COMMENTS:

I want to welcome a new EC for Allen Co. Joseph Lawrence N9RFZ. I also
want to thank everyone for your monthly reports we had very good
representation state wide this month.

Ft Wayne was good this year it was great meeting everyone. This month
at Ft Wayne I started a membership drive for ARES. I am asking everyone
to sign up at least one new ARES Member. We are also looking for more
appointees many counties need EC and I am looking for some DEC too. So
if you know of anyone interested in some position please contact me.

Some clubs are looking for new members and are looking for current
members to be officers for 2008. Please offer your time and talent to
your club. Being a club officer is very rewarding in many ways and new
members are always great.

There were many comments made during Ft Wayne about training amateur
radio operators for emergency communication. It was agreed that hams
need better training and should pursue more training. It was what we've
been hearing about, the need to increased training for radio amateurs
involved in providing emergency communications. If you wait until the
next disaster, it will be too late for you to learn the skills you need
to be effective. We have to be on the scene with trained

operators who have practiced so much that the skills they need during
the emergency are second nature.
