MINUTES OF THE 6-16-2007 MEETING OF THE C.C.A.R.C.

The meeting was called to order at 9:43 am by Chuck, N9PMW.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:

The Secretary’s report was presented by Tom, KB9WSL. The Minutes of the
5-19-2007 Meeting were approved as presented without corrections.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

None presented.

REPEATER:

Phil, W9LVY reported that Chuck, N9PMW, took down the antenna for the
147.180 repeater on the Chase Park water tower after it was damaged during a
recent storm. It was discovered the mounting bracket for the mast for the
antenna was broken, causing the antenna to lean at a sharp angle. A
temporary mag-mount antenna was put on top of the water tower as a
short-term fix until a plan is prepared to repair the antenna mounting
bracket or replace the antenna. Chuck took many photos of the mounting
bracket while on the water tower. Phil advised the repeater is putting out
around 40 or 50 watts, rather than the normal 100 watts.

Chuck, N9PMW, also reported the 350 repeater is up and running at his QTH.
Power output is about 10 watts but it seems to provide almost county-wide
coverage.

There was also some discussion about locating a remote receiver somewhere
south of Logansport to provide better coverage to the south toward
Indianapolis. Bob, K9AWH, said he would like to see the Delphi package
re-located. The matter will be taken up in the future after Field Day.

FIELD DAY:

Chuck, N9PMW, reported that plans and preparations for Field Day are going
well. He said the antenna rotators and controllers are all operational. He
also advised the Club he will be appearing on WSAL’s “Talk of the Town
program” to discuss Field Day. The program will air on Thursday June 21st at
8:05 am on 1230 WSAL-AM.

Rae, N9YFW, reported that things are going well for collecting items for the
Field Day raffle. He is still trying to get hamburgers and hamburger buns
donated for the Saturday evening carry-in. He says he does have hot dogs
donated. Club members wishing to assist with Field Day set-up are asked to
be at Don’s house at around Noon on Friday, June 22nd. Field Day will begin
at 2pm Saturday, June 23rd.

Also, Bob, K9AWH, is donating the “major” prize for the raffle. He is
donating a Yaesu FT-757 HF all mode transceiver. Power power output is 100
watts with built in keyer. Bob will also include an antenna tuner. Tickets
will be 5 dollars each and only licensed Amateurs can participate.

GOOD OF THE CLUB:

Chuck told members that he attended a recent meeting at the Cass County EMA
building. New operating procedures and guidelines were announced with regard
to storm spotting. The changes should make storm spotting go more smoothly
and improve communications.

Marissa, KC9JFU, sold lemonade at her QTH on a recent Saturday morning. She
raised 9-dollars which she donated to the Club. It was suggested her effort
be reported in the next issue of “ The Feedline“.

50/50:

10-dollars raised. Winner was KA9BYN. He donated his winnings back to the
Club.

* The next Club meeting will be Saturday, July 21st at 9am at the Cass
County EMA building.
** One person tested at the June meeting and passed his Technician license
test.

The meeting adjourned at 11:00 am.

N9ZMY, K9DVL, K9EQT, KA9BYN, N9LMC, and N9YFW.
