Good afternoon everyone,

Thank you thank you thank you to all that helped today with the water tower climb. Despite the cold in the morning we got several things accomplished that we've been not only wanting but needing to get done. First of all we have a new antenna mounting post as well as a new dual band antenna. This antenna will serve the purpose of the transmitter antenna, receive for the water tank as well as receive from the link at EMA. This was installed in the same fashion as the installation from two years ago when we replaced the hardline. Testing will be important at this point so when you're out and about far enough away to wonder if you'll get in, try the repeater. Give it a whirl and we can see just how well our work has done. If you get the chance to report on how well it did for you please do so, not all of us get out very far and knowing how it performs will help those of us that seem to go out a ways. Not to mention this can help us see what improvements are needed.
Next we got the mouse nests cleaned out of the repeater cabinet. I'm not sure if it was done but I think we've worked on sealing up the cabinet to prevent this occurance from happening again. I'd have said repeating but it is after all a repeater and there may be a little too much repeating in the repeater or something along those lines. Meanwhile back at the point!! I also know we removed the impedance stubs from the hardline on both ends. Hopefully this will improve things. Again this is your opportunity to report your results on how the repeater works for you.
In the climb as a whole I feel it was a very productive work session that accomplished the things needed for winter. Now anything needed for the most part we can do from the ground. All the EMA tower/water tower work for the repeater, at this point is completed baring any catastrophic events that may or may not occur. Now all that is left to do is the tweaking and adjusting to ensure proper operation as well as continued proper operation. Thanks again to all that helped with pulling a rope, holding a rope in place, adjusting something, turning a wrench, getting a tool, or standing watching to see that everything went up ok. Everyone was needed, extremely useful and added their abilities and expertice to the project. Oh yeah even that silly idiot that climbed up the water tower, he was kinda useful too. I'm not entirely sure HOW useful but that'll become apparant in the coming weeks. Have a wonderful day everyone and thank you all again.
