Subject: Re: [Inares] Activation

            Tony: In
Tippecanoe county the EMA was activatied with myself using the EMA call
of KC9LOF liason with the state net with N9GDR. Althought the
lafayette ARES hamtivity net took place at its usual 1930hrs Thursday,
with a promise to bring up the weather net, when the time to bring up
the weather net, no one was around- again. I do wish to apologize to
N9GDR due to an individiual who checked in just to state the warning
sirens had gone off and now were no longer sounding. A little funny to
me, considering the NWS had issued the warning to begin with, and
checked back in to inform N9GDR that the warning sirens were activated
again. This occuring after I had checked in to inform N9GDR that a
funnel was sighted and confirmed in Tippecanoe county. I did politly
ask the individual to pass reports to KC9LOF on the 147.135 local
frequency. The only other hams involved
with the weather on Thursday night, came from a few individuals calling
themselves WINGS,who were still reporting severe activity in the north
central part of the county after the storms had exited the county and
were affecting Clinton county. I
do not understand the purpose of the weekly net, when in the beginning
of the weekly net the statement is said to train individuals in
emergencies, and then when needed no one activates the weather net. I
have passed my concern to the net manager for Tippecanoe county. I did
offer our EMA EOC to activate the weather net, do to several of our EMA
our licensed hams, however I have not received a reply as of this time. Respectfully; Captain Terry Grossmann KE9PR Tippecanoe County EMA

I have heard from a few of you and just wondering if any others were.
