Good morning everyone,

As we're all aware the cookout is this coming Sunday! I'm getting excited all over again for some of that great cookout food that we have so much of every Field Day. Just the opportunity to have it twice in one year is pretty cool to me!! That said remember also there's the raffle that we didn't have on Field Day that we have yet to do. This as usual requires everyone to buy LOTS of tickets and to remind everyone this is our main fundraiser so as stated, buy early and often! At this moment I do not have a list of the stuff in the raffle. I'm sure if Rae checks his email sometime this week he can fill us in as a reminder. The cookout is at the lower pavillion at Spencer Park. We have the space from 1-10PM but I'm sure we'll be long gone by then. The information I heard on the radio is that it was decided to eat around 2-2:30 timeframe. This was decided due to the hot foods and cold foods coming in and wanting to keep them in their respective temperature ranges as to keep them in their best state. Confusing yes but I think you all get the point. Any questions should NOT I repeat, NOT be directed to me as I don't know for sure. Rae N9YFW and or Anna KC9IDO know way more than I do about stuff. In this "song" I'm only playing what's on the sheet, I didn't write it. hi

This wouldn't be complete without informing everyone that there will be some changes being made to our beloved 18 repeater before the snow flies and we'll need lots of help to acomplish things. These changes will involve two opportunities to climb for those idiots that do that sort of thing. Since there's reason to climb there's a direct need for ground support to make sure each climb goes as planned. One will be at EMA to relocate the link antenna higher on the same tower and feed it with hardline. The other opportunity will be at the water tower to replace the antenna and mount. We are currently working with a temporary fix and have been working this way all summer. This will NEED to be rectified before winter as we're not sure it'll last through the winter. At this point Dave is working on the main mount that was damaged after many many years of faithful service earlier this year in a storm. I'm not soliciting help for specific dates at the moment as we're not sure when we'll be able to do the work. I'm just reminding folks so that it's not a huge surprise when we figure it all out. Given that next weekend is the cookout, the following weekend is meeting weekend and Peoria hamfest, we're probably working with the weekends after that. If we figure things out earlier than the latter two, great! Just be ready when we do say and we'll give plenty of notice.

Since I mentioned Peoria hamfest I'll say it now so I don't forget. I'm planning on going and obviously won't be at the meeting the 15th. In my absence we'll obviously need someone to step in and run the show, or more accurately, see if a quorum shows up and go from there.

Here's hoping everyone's Labor day weekend found everyone safe and had a great three day weekend. See you all on the air!
