Subject: [Inares] Statewide ARES VHF/UHF Simplex Freq's
I have another thought on the topic besides what has been already
started. Along with a statewide VHF/UHF simplex pair of frequencies,
maybe we should consider 10 district VHF/UHF simplex pairs that are
assigned. With involvement with each of the counties in that district
and with any bordering counties in other states to make sure there
are no conflicts.
I propose that each county have an assigned VHF/UHF simplex pair
also. Some already have tactical simplex frequencies in place. Again
with proper planning and some communication I think this would be a
great idea, to get everyone prepared.
Now repeaters have their place, but we must think beyond them in case
additional or backup communications is needed. If a certain district
has wide spread damage, one pair of statewide simplex frequencies are
not enough even with repeaters.
The counties would have their pairs, the district pairs could act as
a backbone etc. The statewide pairs could be used for communications
to nearby counties bringing resources etc.
Our local channel plan in Whitley County includes:
145.270-(PL131.8)WCARC Repeater 444.550+ WCARC Repeater
14X.XXX(PLXXX.X)2M-440 CRSBND RPT. 44X.XXX(PLXXX.X)440-2M CRSBND RPT
146.460 Whitley Co. 2M Tac 446.460 Whitley Co. 440 Tac
146.520 Nat. 2M Simplex 446.000 Nat. 440 Simplex
If other counties have set simplex tactical frequencies we are not
aware of them. See the problem? They need to be assigned and then
communicated.
Just a thought!
