MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 26th MEETING OF THE C.C.A.R.C.


The meeting was called to order at 9:02 am by Chuck, N9PMW.

SECRETARY‘S REPORT:

Minutes of the December 12th 2007 meeting were read by Tom, KB9WSL.
The minutes were approved as presented without additions or corrections.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

None.

REPEATER:

Chuck reported that plans are still in the works to repair the amplifier for the 147.180 repeater.  The repeater is operating at very low power right now….but it still seems to be putting out a decent signal. 

ARES/RACES:

Chuck, N9PMW, reported that ice jams on the area rivers may become a problem as the snow-pack melts.

Chuck also reported that during the Semi Annual Test on January 19th, 2008, 61 counties managed to check-in to the Net. Locally, CCARC managed to check in on 80 meters SSB and PSK-31...on 40 meters on SSB….on 6-meters via SSB and  using FM on 2-meters Simplex. CCARC tried to check-in on 6-meters FM  but was unable to do so. Chuck stated this was a good effort.

CLUB STATION:

Chuck reported the set-up of the Club station at the EMA building is pretty much completed. A Dipole antenna for HF was recently installed and seems to be working well. Dave, K9DVL stated the club station still needs to be grounded and believes there should be no problem in doing so.

OLD BUSINESS:

None





NEW BUSINESS:

Dave, K9DVL said he would like to sell some of the Club equipment that has been stored in his barn. He will get a list of the items together and check equipment to be sure it works. He would like to sell the items on E-bay and the proceeds will go to the Club Treasury. (The balance in the treasury is at last report…$377.59) Once a list is compiled…a decision will be made as to what items may be sold. A motion was made and seconded to proceed with selling surplus equipment. Motion carried.

Ed, K9PSR asked if an inventory of club equipment had ever been completed. Chuck was not sure. He will check to see if a list was ever made. Ed thought it would be a good idea to get a complete inventory of club equipment and determine the location of the items.

Bob, K9AWH, asked that the club look into getting all of the club repeaters linked together. Dave, K9DVL said a new controller would probably be needed to link the repeaters. He will look into the cost of a new controller. Bob also would like to see IRLP or Echo-link be utilized at some point.

Brandon,KC9LVB, advised that the Club website now has some google ads on it, and some income may soon be seen by the Club through the website. Brandon said the ads from the website  would require the club to complete some forms for taxes as a non-profit group if the income from the web site ads exceeds $999.00 a year.

He also stated the club would have to register as a merchant if we were to sell ads to local businesses to be placed on the website.

The 3rd Annual North-Central Indiana Hamfest will be held April 20th, 2008 at the Miami County Fairgrounds near Peru. Max, K9SSH, asked if the club would be interested in helping out this year with the hamfest. Some interest was expressed.
Chuck, N9PMW, said he would like to get more information before the club decides whether or not to take part.


GOOD OF THE CLUB:

Chuck, N9PMW advised that the W9ZHS club station at Zionsville is looking for donations for it’s club station. They are looking for an HF rig. Bob, K9AWH said he has a Tempo-One he would be  willing to donate if someone can get the radio delivered.

Tom, KB9WSL, advised that a new Radio Shack store may be opening at Eastgate Plaza soon.



BILLS:

None

50/50:

$11.00 raised. Winner was K9DVL. He donated his winnings back to the Club.

The next meeting will be Saturday, February 16th at 9am at the Cass County EMA.

Meeting adjourned at 10:17 am.
