Notre Dame sports has a new radio partner in its hometown of South Bend, IN,
and that’s Schurz Communications’ local WSBT Radio Group. Football
(which the whole town hopes will rebound from a 3-9 season) will run on
both news/talk WSBT (960) and “Sunny 101.5” WNSN. Men’s roundball will
air on WSBT, and Notre Dame hockey will clear on Schurz-run “Cat
Country 99.9” WHFB. WSBT Radio Group Operations Manager Jim Roberts
emails T-R-I to say that “Notre Dame is so important to this community”
– and that they’re excited to bring Fighting Irish football “back to
where it all started”, since WSBT “was the first media outlet to ever
broadcast a Notre Dame football game, back on November 4, 1922.” Who
was the coach that day? Knute Rockne.
