MINUTES OF THE MARCH 15TH, 2008 MEETING OF THE C.C.A.R.C.
The meeting was called to order at 9:04 am by Chuck, N9PMW.
SECRETARY‘S REPORT:
Minutes of the February 16th,2008 meeting were read by Tom ,KB9WSL. There was one correction to the minutes. The call sign of John Flint, is KC9MVQ, not KC9WVQ as noted in the February minutes. The minutes were approved with the one correction.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Treasurer’s report was presented by Dave, N9WCQ.
Beginning balance as of February 16th, 2008 was $377.59.
Check to Dave, N9WCQ for $52.91 for postage for Feedline and meeting notices.
Check to Brandon, KC9LVB for $59.98 for Club website registration.
Check to Dave, K9DVL for $40.00 for poles for antennas.
Deposits for dues, testing, 50/50 and bank interest, totaled $73.99
Ending balance $298.69
The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.
REPEATER:
The 147.180 repeater is still on low power. The 145.230 repeater is off the air at this time. Bob,K9AWH, asked if the 180 repeater could have Logansport added to the station ID. Chuck, N9PMW, said he did not believe the vocabulary of the repeater controller would allow the word Logansport to be added. Phil, W9LVY said the word “Logan “ or “Logansport” could be added to the repeater ID using Morse Code.
Dave, K9DVL stated he has a digital voice recorder which might be able to be interfaced with the controller to add a voice ID adding Logansport to the repeater ID. Dave said the controller on the 147.180 repeater is about 15 or 20 years old.
ARES/RACES:
Chuck, N9PMW, reported that a total of 52 people were trained at the recent storm spotter training classes in Logansport. He was pleased with the turnout. Several members said the classes were very well presented this year.
OLD BUSINESS:
None
NEW BUSINESS:
Chuck, N9PMW, stated that Field Day is quickly approaching. He said the Club needs to select a site for Field Day this year. Possible sites discussed were Don, K9EQT’s QTH, Deichman Park, The Cass County Airport, the Cass County Fairgrounds, and the EMA. There were concerns expressed about the cost for gasoline this year for the generator. There was some discussion about possibly using smaller generators this year…or using commercial power. Chuck asked everyone to write down their ideas for Field Day and they will be discussed at the April Club meeting.
Brandon, KC9LVB, asked if the Club might be interested in helping with efforts to schedule an ARISS contact with the International space station. Brandon said there is a long waiting list and a lengthy application form to be completed. There was interest expressed by those attending the meeting.
GOOD OF THE CLUB:
Chuck, N9PMW, stated that the North Central Indiana Ham-fest will be held at Peru on Sunday, April 20th.
The Club needs some volunteers to assist with set-up and tear-down.
BILLS:
The following bills were presented:
$11.20 for postage for March meeting notices
$11.76 for postage for January meeting notices.
$18.54 for mailing labels.
$19.27 for postage for The Feedline.
$34.00 for Post office box rent.
A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills. The motion carried.
50/50:
$11.00 was raised. Winner was Guy, AC9X. He donated his winnings back to the Club.
The next meeting will be Saturday, April 19th, 2008 at 9am at the Cass County EMA building. Meeting adjourned at 10:20 am.
