                  MINUTES OF THE 5-14-2008 MEETING OF THE CCARC  

The meeting was called to order at 7:04PM by Chuck, N9PMW.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:

The  Minutes of the  April 19th, 2008 meeting were read by Tom, KB9WSL.
The minutes were approved as presented without additions or corrections.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Dave, N9WCQ, presented the Treasurer’s report.

Balance as of 4-19-2008 was  $230.27  
Check to Dave, N9WCQ for $11.48 for postage for meeting notices.
Check to Secretary of State’s office $7.14 for Non Profit status.
Deposit of $45.00
Deposit of $10.00 from 50/50
Deposit of 29 cents for Interest income.

Ending balance of  $266.94

Balance in the Repeater Controller Fund….$50.00

The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.

REPEATER:

Dave, K9DVL, reported that he has the amplifier for the 180 repeater on his work-bench. He stated a work session needs to be planned to make repairs to the repeater and  get equipment ready for Field day.

Phil, W9LVY, stated he thought he would be available on May 24th and May 31st.

Bob,K9AWH, stated that Alvin Beckman advised him the Club could use the old Micor repeater once used  at EMA. The repeater puts out 110 watts. New crystals would need to be installed. The heat sink in this repeater is for intermittent use.

Plans are to hold a work session for the 180 and 230 repeaters on Saturday May 24th.  No time was mentioned. 





ARES/RACES:

Chuck, N9PMW, reported that Indiana DHS, was seeking $150,000 in grant money for ARES/RACES. Club members who are also EMA members need to get their NIMS certifications. Currently  IS-100, IS-200 and IS-700 are required. There may soon be emphasis on also getting IS-800. NIMS Training is free and is available on-line. Check the FEMA website for the link. It only takes a few hours to study on-line. The test is also available on-line…free of charge.

OLD BUSINESS:

Chuck,N9PMW, reported the North Central Indiana Ham-fest went well last month. Profits from the event were the best they have been since the events’ inception. As a result, due to participation by CCARC to help with the event this year, the Club was given a $200.00 check. The money was not expected by the Club, and  Chuck thanked the event organizers for the funds. Dave, K9DVL said he hopes the club will assist with the event again next year. Several CCARC members assisted at the Ham-fest  by helping set-up and tear-down. There are plans to have two major prizes for the raffle at the ham-fest next year.

FIELD DAY:

Chuck, N9PMW, advised that invitation letters have gone out for this years’ Field Day event.  Dave, K9DVL, stated the Club should try to get as many points as possible to offset the fact we will be running on AC power at the EMA building this year. Due to high gas prices the generator will not be used.

NEW BUSINESS:

Chuck advised that a local ham, George Voltz, donated several boxes containing a variety of radio equipment…including an HF radio and amplifier, a couple of scanners, SWR Wattmeters, microphone and  many other items. Dave, K9DVL, said he thinks the more useful items should be checked out then auctioned on E-Bay to raise funds for the Club.

GOOD OF THE CLUB:

Tom, KB9WSL advised he had bumper stickers made with the Club’s new logo. The stickers are 4” by 6” ovals with the club website address on the bottom of the sticker. They are $2.00 each . Proceeds will benefit the Club.

BILLS:

Dave, N9WCQ, had a bill for $11.89 for postage for meeting notices. A motion was made and seconded to pay the bill. Motion carried.

50/50:  $9.00 raised, winner was John, KC9MVQ…he donated his winnings back to the Club.

Next meeting will be Saturday, June 21st  at the Cass County EMA building at 9 AM.

Meeting  adjourned at  8 :15 PM
